Project Overview
My Role
User Experience Designer
Mapping a quick userflow and drafting the key persona
Creating high fidelity mockups in Figma, while aligning with the brand guidelines
The Challenge
How might we design a mobile application that enables 3M field technicians to seamlessly scan, authenticate, and instantly access comprehensive details of genuine 3M sheet materials while operating in the field. The focus was on aligning the UI with 3M's brand guidelines.
The Process
Being a fast-paced project, I quickly grasped user and business needs, defined project goals, and crafted a user-centric design. I developed a proto persona and streamlined user flows, swiftly moved to high-fidelity designs aligning with 3M’s brand guidelines, and then handed off the detailed UI package to the development team for execution.

Defining Project Goals
Proto Persona
The key persona is a 3M Field Technician. Owing to a limited timeline and limited direct access to field technicians, information was gathered from the client’s team, to build a proto persona.

User Journey
A user journey was mapped to illustrate the step-by-step process within the 3M Mobile App for field technicians, emphasizing the key interactions and user touchpoints throughout the experience.

Project Goals
Gaining understanding about the user needs and aligning with the business objectives helped me define clear project goals:
Simple and straightforward userflow
Easy to use interface on the field
Smooth scanning experience
Align visual language with existing 3M Brand Guidelines
High-fidelity screens

Post-design, the app has been handed over for development and is currently undergoing field testing in Chennai, India.
It's gratifying to know that the work I contributed is now being tested and used in a real-world environment. Eagerly awaiting user feedback from field testing to validate the efficiency of the designed workflows.
Learnings from the project
Importance of Brand Alignment
Gained insights into the importance of brand alignment, ensuring that every aspect of the UI harmoniously reflected 3M's branding, reinforcing their identity and values in each user interaction.
Navigating Tight Timelines
Quick decision-making and focusing on essentials were key to maintaining quality in a time-sensitive project.
Designing with constraints
Particularly without direct access to users and under a tight timeline, the challenge for me was to rely on instinct and industry knowledge to anticipate the needs of the technicians. This process honed my ability to create clear, navigable designs that intuitively align with user expectations, highlighting the importance of empathy and adaptability in UX design.
